My First Year At Uni

Hello you lovely lot!
It’s been a while hasn’t it? I haven’t really felt the desire to blog until now, so I didn’t see the point in making myself do so, considering it is something I just do as a hobby.

This week I finished my first year of university, wooo! Only four years to go…

If you didn’t know, I study Business Management and Finance, part-time alongside my full time job.

I felt like documenting how I felt about my first year so I could look back on it in years to come!

I personally really enjoyed it. I honestly LOVE learning. I just find it fun and nothing beats gaining more knowledge – knowledge is power after all.

Before I started uni, I was SO nervous due to finding it a little difficult to speak to people, when I first meet them. However, it really wasn’t that bad at all, I just forced myself to mingle and appear confident, fake it ’til you make it baby!  I really enjoyed my course from the first day, I found the modules so interesting, I couldn’t wait to delve in and learn learn learn.

I didn’t personally find my first year of university to be too demanding alongside my full time job, I just used my spare time at weekends to complete my assignments, it did help that my boyfriend is also in uni part time, so we could work together. However, it is only my first year, so I know the work load will continue to grow and I am expecting it to get harder in time – luckily I’m always up for a challenge!

I was so happy when I got 99% on my first module assignment and it encouraged me to try as hard as I could. I’ve received a First for my first year and I couldn’t be happier. I genuinely am really looking forward to going back for my second year and learning more and completing more assignments – is that weird?

Overall, I really enjoyed my first year of university and I am so excited to carry on with my course for the next four years!

TOP MODEL UK | I’m In A Modelling Competition

I have some exciting news to share!
I recently applied to a modelling competition, which I didn’t think anything would really come of, but thought heck why not apply anyway!

Turns out, they liked me enough to select me as a GRAND FINALIST!!

I have been selected under the ‘natural beauty’ section and I am SO excited!

On 17th March 2017, I will be competing against other girls to win the title, in London on a catwalk.

The best part of this competition is that ALL proceeds go to charity and this years charity is Children with Cancer UK.

If you’d like to vote for me and donate to charity I would appreciate it so so much!

Click here and it will take you to the site.

Please share the link as much as possible as I’d really appreciate it!

As much as I’d love to win, I think the most important part is raising money for charity, which is what I’m more focused on.

I can’t wait to see how this event goes and how it shapes me as a person!

The company is called ‘Top Model UK’.

Their links are as follows: TWITTER | FACEBOOK | INSTAGRAM | WEBSITE

In this post are a few photos from some modelling I’ve done before.

The photographer was the lovely Stephanie at Fairweather Photography who’s links will be below!

As mentioned, it would mean so so much to me if you could donate to such a worthy cause.

The link is here.

What Does 2017 Hold?

An official Happy New Year to you now that it is actually 2017!

I say that because in my last post I said happy new year but it was only December 30th.

Today I wanted to tell you about a few things I’m looking forward to in 2017 and some things I’d like to achieve.

The first thing I’m looking forward to is DRAKE!! I am so excited to be seeing Drake with my boyfriend in February!!

Next, I am going to another concert for The XX, again, with my boyfriend in March, he bought me tickets for Christmas, the cutie!

The last major thing I have planned at the moment to do this year is DISNEY!! Yes, I am going to Disneyland Paris is June, yet again, with my boyfriend (he’s my bestie okay)! We’re staying in France for a total of 5 days, we’re going to Disneyland for 3 days and the Paris for 1 or 2 days – we haven’t quite decided yet!

Also, 2017 is the year I am finalllly a REAL adult!!
I am 20 this year, wooo, onto real life adult hood I guess?!

I love this Walt Disney Quote, I just think it is so true, whatever you put your mind to you can do.

A few things I would like to do this year are:-

Visit somewhere with my niece in April. Last year we went to Amsterdam and it was aaaamazing (I have three posts on it here, here and here). This year we’ve been thinking about somewhere different, possibly Italy, so if you have any suggestions of somewhere touristy we could go for a long weekend, do let me know!

I’d also like to visit Efteling which is a wicked looking theme park in Netherlands. My boyfriend and I spoke about visiting Efteling last year but it never really happened, so I’d really love it to happen this year.

This year I’ll be finishing my first year of uni so I’d like to ideally finish with a first.

I’d like to be in the fittest shape I’ve ever been in.
I’m really motivated to get extremely fit and toned – toned to the point where there’s only muscle on me!
I think I could definitely achieve this if I put my mind to it and work hard – exercising lots and eating clean.

A weird one, but I’d like to get better at speaking to people.
I’m not always great with starting conversations with people, I can be a bit awkward, so I’d really like to work on that and get better.

Lastly, I know I said this last year, but I really do want to make more effort with my blog.
As well as interacting more with other bloggers!
Hit me upppp if you wanna talk!!

I generally would just like to spend more time actually doings things (sounds weird but I know what I mean), as well as travelling and just living a happier, healthier life!
I’d also like to spend my money less on materialistic items and more on experiences and the people I love.

That’s all I can think of for now!

What are you hoping to achieve this year?!

Okay, enough with the corny! Let’s get into what I’m reaaally here for!!
I thought it would be a good idea to look back at my post from this time last year where I listed my resolutions for 2016 and see how many I actually achieved…

I had seven resolutions for 2016 which were:

  1. Stop biting my nails – I actually managed to achieve this!! Finally, after 19 years, I have stopped biting my nails!! They’re very weak at the moment, so they’re taking their time to grow, but I am so happy to have finally stopped biting them.
  2. Try harder with my blog – Well, at the beginning of the year I tried very hard with my blog, but as you can see, over the past few months, I really have let it slide.
  3. Be fit & healthy – I have been fit and healthy over the majority of the year, although, slipping up a little bit. Like, right now, I’ve been a right unhealthy slob over Christmas!!
  4. Be more organised – I feel like I have achieved this to an extent. Of course, there is always room for improvement!
  5. Be more chilled – I’ve definitely achieved this. At the beginning of this year I was a very highly strung person, which I admit, I still am, but I have definitely chilled a lot more out. I take things as they come and try not to stress so much about the little things anymore.
  6. Be more confident – I think I have achieved this to a degree. I could definitely work on being more confident. But I feel like I’ve got slightly better.
  7. Be happy – yep, I’ve achieved this! I am such a happier person than I was throughout 2015.

Onto a few things that have made me happy this year… (this is in no particular order!!)

  1. This guy. *bleeeuurrghhh cringey* hey ho! I don’t mention him much on here, but, this is George and he has been part of my life for the past 5 years, my boyfriend and best friend. Admittedly, I definitely nag him too much (I’m sorry) but he’s the best and I wouldn’t change him for the world!

2. Seeing Justin Bieber with my niece thanks to George! He bought the tickets for Christmas 2015 and it was sooo good!! There’s a post about it here.

3. Finally getting myself a professionally designed blog header! Thank you to Jemma from Dork Face.
I love that it has all the little things on it that I love, Dalmatians, Elephants, Handbags, Paris, Macaroons, Peter Pan and Glitter!!

4. Visiting The Crazy Bear Hotel with my favourite guy. George booked for us both to go there for my birthday this year. It was so lovely. There’s a huuuuge post about it here. I would so love to go again!! *hint hint*

5. One of my older sisters finally got married and I was lucky enough to be her bridesmaid! It went by in such a whirlwind but it was amazing.

6. Maga! Maga! Maga-f**king-luf!! This summer I finally went on my first girls holiday with four of my friends. It was sooo good and we even made friends!! Ha-ha! I sooo wish I could go back again.

7. Finally, my niece and I visited the beautiful city of Amsterdam. It was one of the best weekends of my entire life!! In fact, I wrote three posts about it which you can read here, here and here.

That’s it for my round up of 2016 and I hope you enjoyed!!
2016 has been a fantastic year for me personally! Amongst the things mentioned above, I also got a new car, an Audi A3!! Which has been a dream of mine for so long!! AND I started a part time uni course!!

Stay tuned as I’ll be writing a looking forward to 2017 post in the next couple of days.

Have a Happy New Year and Best Wishes for 2017!!

Who is InTheEyeOfThis?

Fancy learning a little more about me?!
For ages I’ve been wanting to do a little post telling you more about me so here it is!! In the artful way of a list…

Well THIS ^^ is me.

  • My full name is Alice Rebecca Wright
  • I was born April 10th 1997 in the wonderful county of Essex, Harlow to be exact, but let’s not go into that!!
  • I am one of 9, yes NINE! 6 sisters and 2 brothers, with my oldest sibling being 40 (she’ll kill me for saying that) and my youngest being only 13.
  • Due to the fact I have so many older sisters, I have 4 nephews and 7 nieces, ranging from 19 years old to less than a year!
  • I have grown up with my niece Kelsie as there is only 11 days between us. I really do see her as more of a sister than a niece though. I can honestly say that I don’t know what I would do without her in my life.
  • I have always lived in Essex, so am an Essex girl, born and bred!! I lived in Harlow until my 1st birthday then moved to a cute little village near Stansted (not going to be exact because you know, weirdos and all that)
  • I was born with a chronic illness, a liver disease called Alpha 1 Antitrypsin Deficiency, which I’m not going to go into, but the long and short is that it effects my liver and lungs, meaning I can’t drink or smoke.
  • I currently work full time for my dads structural steel company as his PA, I have worked there for just over a year, since July 2015
  • Alongside studying Business Management and Finance at university part time – I only started this September (2016) and have 5 years to go
  • I took up blogging because I always loved writing and creating so it seemed like the right thing to do.
  • I also used to have a Youtube channel when I was 15/16 where I made fashiony/lifey videos for a while. However I then got embarrassed when people found it that I didn’t want to, so I deleted all traces of it! Slyly wish I didn’t now so I could have watched the videos again!!
  • I’m an avid nail bitter which I’m trying my hardest to stop!! In fact my nails are the longest I’ve ever seen them at the moment.
  • I’m also an avid chewing gum eater. I will never not have a piece of gum in my mouth unless I’m sleeping or I’m eating something else!!
  • I have had the same best friend for seven years now, Jenni, who I met on my induction day for secondary school, the rest is history! She’s been with me through so many ups and downs and I can honestly say we will be friends forever and my children will be calling her Auntie!!
  • My boyfriend George and I have been together since 2011. It was two days before my 14th birthday when we got together and we’ve been together ever since.
  • I have a weird obsession with mugs and wish I could buy every mug I’ve seen and loved but we just don’t have the space, waahhh
  • There are three things in life I’m obsessed with: Disney (OBVVVSSS), Dalmatians and Elephants!!!

That’s all the facts I can think of right now!

I hope you enjoyed learning a bit more about me! What are some facts about you?!
