Tie Dye Workout

Let me just start by saying I was absolutely freeeeeezing taking these photos!!! AND windy, eurgh I hate it when it’s windy!

I feel like my overly grinning face gives an idea of how cold it was and how I was trying to over compensate for it…

I love me some gym and with gym comes sweeeeet gymwear!

I have been going to the gym for a long time now (about the past 4-5 years) and have always been reluctant to buy new workout clothes. I’m not really sure why if I’m honest, I just never really liked spending money on it, buuuut that’s changed!!

I just keep buying new workout wear recently and I can’t help it, whoooops!!

What I Eat in a Day!

Today I thought I’d do a ‘What I Eat in a Day’ post.
I love seeing other bloggers post what they eat in a day, and thought you might enjoy seeing what I eat!
breakfast
Nearly every day Monday to Friday, I have porridge for breakfast.
Most days I’ll have porridge with a flaxseed mix (Linwoods), honey, raisins and banana, although some days I like to mix it up a bit by putting some cocoa powder in there and having some yummy chocolate porridge!
I use Flahavans Organic Irish Porridge Oats, taking 1/4 cup of oats and mixing it with 3/4 cups of liquid – either milk or water, it really depends how I am feeling that day – I then whack it in the microwave for 1 and a half minutes and voila, there’s my porridge done.
This always leaves me feeling super full until lunch time. I also make sure to wash it down with a cup of green tea in my favourite Eeyore cup.
lunchLunch for me varies, sometimes I’ll have a wrap or a salad, or what I have right here.
This is one of my favourite lunches, toasted pitta bread slices (only until it’s warm, not crispy!), cucumber, pepper and carrot sticks with organic hummus.
This actually leaves me feeling very full and it’s so easy to whip up quickly the evening before.
Again, I make sure to wash it down with a cup of green tea, I normally have about 5 – 6 cups of tea throughout the day.
After lunch I’ll normally have a snack or two, which most days is a banana and an apple, occasionally some nuts which I always have in my bag just in case!
dinner
D inner varies a lot for me, I’ve been trying to get more protein in my diet, so have been trying to include some type of meat in my diet – my favourites are a chicken or turkey breast, or beef mince.
Some meals I often choose to make are, chili con carne and rice, pasta with a tomato sauce or pasta bake or a chicken or turkey breast with various vegetables.
Here I had a stir fry which is one of my favourites as it takes next to no time to prepare!
This stir fry was made up of cooked chicken breast, squash, broccoli, spinach, runner beans and egg noodles, with a ‘Chinese Stir Fry Sauce’ by Tesco. I also had a glass of Innocent smoothie to go with it – not the healthiest as it’s full of sugar I know, but I really fancied it.
I then tend to make another green tea after dinner to take to bed with me.
I also drink around 2 liters of water a day – I just love water honestly.

How To Stay Healthy In An Office Job

Today I thought I’d write a post about how to stay healthy when you’re working in an office job.
I myself work in an office and I know it can be hard to eat well if you don’t prepare properly.
Just a quick disclaimer, I am in no way claiming to be a fitness and eating expert, these are simply some things I’ve learned whilst working, which I thought I’d put out there for you to read.

The first thing I will say is that preparation is key!
Get into the habit of making your lunch the night before. This will stop you from being tempted to buy food from a shop on your lunch break which is more than likely going to be something you can grab and go, which isn’t always the healthiest thing you can eat.

The next thing is to try not to have a snack drawer.
Whilst it is tempting to have a drawer full of goodies for when you get a little peckish, if you don’t have one, you’ll be removing the temptation and benefit overall.
However, it is important to have some form of snacks for the day.
Instead of gravitating towards chocolate, biscuits and sweets, try to go for some healthier options.
My favourite go to snacks are nuts, dried fruits (although be careful of the sugar in these), fresh fruit and vegetable sticks and hummus.

Eat Breakfast!
This one is a biggie! I cannot stress enough the importance of eating a filling breakfast.
Breakfast is the first meal of the day and ultimately the most important, which I’m sure you’ve heard many times but it still rings true.
A good breakfast will set you up for the day, giving you lots of energy and keeping you full for a good amount of time.
If you don’t have time to eat breakfast before you leave the house then make sure you have some when you get to work.
Everyday I make myself porridge in the office and eat it at my desk, and I can tell you now, the odd days that I don’t have breakfast really take their toll on me. I feel like I have no energy which really distracts me when at work.
So make sure you eat breakfast!

Another thing I’ll say is try to make sure you’re not sitting down ALL day.
I know this is hard if you have a lot of work to do which involves you sitting at your desk, however try to take little breaks and go for a walk.
Whether this is just to the toilet or to make yourself a drink, I just think it is really important not to be sat down all day.

The last thing I’ll say is to make sure you make time for exercise!
This is a no-brainer, everyone should make time for exercise whether they work in a office or not.
As well as the obvious health benefits of exercising, it is a great stress relief, so going to the gym or a run or a cycle will be great for destressing you after a stressful day in the office.
No one is too busy to exercise, so make time, you’ll feel better for it!
