TOP MODEL UK | I’m In A Modelling Competition

I have some exciting news to share!
I recently applied to a modelling competition, which I didn’t think anything would really come of, but thought heck why not apply anyway!

Turns out, they liked me enough to select me as a GRAND FINALIST!!

I have been selected under the ‘natural beauty’ section and I am SO excited!

On 17th March 2017, I will be competing against other girls to win the title, in London on a catwalk.

The best part of this competition is that ALL proceeds go to charity and this years charity is Children with Cancer UK.

If you’d like to vote for me and donate to charity I would appreciate it so so much!

Click here and it will take you to the site.

Please share the link as much as possible as I’d really appreciate it!

As much as I’d love to win, I think the most important part is raising money for charity, which is what I’m more focused on.

I can’t wait to see how this event goes and how it shapes me as a person!

The company is called ‘Top Model UK’.

In this post are a few photos from some modelling I’ve done before.

Guest Post: Organic Make Up | Chic & Smart

Today’s post is another guest post!
The lovely Peter Minkoff contacted me a couple of weeks ago about featuring on my blog and after reading some other articles that he’s written, I couldn’t decline!
I don’t write much about make up as like I’ve said before I’m not very experienced in make up, so I was more than happy for write a post on make up!
Enjoy!

cover organic makeup

One of the hottest topics today is the green initiative: eliminating all toxic and environmentally threatening objects from our lives and turning to natural solutions. A few year ago, there was a wave of new consciousness about the importance of organically grown crops and today we’re witnessing another wakeup call – whether or not is our personal hygiene threatened by synthetic products? Are organic beauty products healthier for us?
The first thing we need to determine is: what does organic exactly stand for? The American Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) doesn’t have a unified formulation of organic cosmetics. As it is stated on their website: FDA regulates cosmetics under the authority of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act) and the Fair Packaging and Labeling Act (FPLA). The term “organic” is not defined in either of these laws or the regulations that FDA enforces under their authority. So, what does organic mean today?

How it’s made

Organic produce is made entirely from naturally grown ingredients. If a label states that a product is 100% organic it means that all ingredients (excluding water and salt) are organic; if it says that the product is organic that means that 95% of the ingredients have to be organically produced, while the rest has to be approved by USDA (US Department of Agriculture); if the label says that the product is made with organic materials that means it must contain at least 70% organic ingredients and the label can list up to three of the organic ingredients or “food” groups on the principal display panel. However, an organic product does not automatically mean that it is safe for your skin. That depends on the ingredient structure.

What is it made from (and what to avoid)

organic soap

Have you ever read the ingredients list of your most common toiletry? Could you understand at least two of the many complex formulas? The thing is – if you can’t pronounce it, it’s probably synthetized in a lab. That wouldn’t be a problem if those ingredients weren’t linked with various cancers (most commonly skin and breast). One such ingredient is polytetrafluoroethylene. Doesn’t seem familiar? How about Teflon®? Ah yes, this non-stick ingredient found in blushes and foundations has been associated with delayed menstruation, later breast development and cancer. The same goes for parabens (linked to breast cancer), phthalates (potentially harmful to the reproductive system) and talc (linked to ovarian cancer). Avoiding these ingredients will lower the risk of dangerous diseases.

Make a smart choice

Is the situation so hopeless that we can’t trust anyone with our beloved makeup items? Not all hope is lost, there are a few names in the industry that stay true to the organic business model. First of all, you should shorten your list of cosmetic must-haves. I tend to stick to the essentials: a black-tea based mascara, a jojoba oil based lipstick (with natural fruit dye) and, of course, an organic naked palette ideal for ultra-precise contouring. You could introduce a blush and perhaps a concealer to this set, but this should be enough to make you shine like a star.

make up organic

DIY alternatives

Besides a few chosen brands that still keep the organic values afloat, you could put in an effort to make your own makeup in your very own kitchen. For example, for a simple foundation you would need the following ingredients: arrowroot powder as base and one or a combination of cocoa powder, ground cinnamon and/or nutmeg. Depending on your tone of skin, you should experiment with the amount of pigmented ingredients. You can find all sorts of DIY recipes for mascaras and lipsticks online. It’s the safest, healthiest and cost-efficient makeup concept.

As you can see, there is a way to remain trendy, keep your chic style and still preserve nature by lowering health hazards in your basic skincare.

My Daily Make-Up

Finally I’m hitting you with a beauty post!
Before we go any further we need to have a quick chat.
I am not a beauty professional.
The most adventurous thing I do is, when I go out for the night, I might put some eye-shadow on.
I am however, hoping to up get better at applying make-up and I really want to build up my collection.
This isn’t all the make-up I have, but for today I thought I’d show you my typical everyday make-up.

IMG_2984 IMG_3012

Generally, I have quite good, clear skin with the occasional spot here and there.
Right now as you can see, I’ve got a spot above my eyebrow and on my nose, I think this is because all the c**p I ate at Christmas is coming out when I’m going to the gym! I also have some dry, red skin under my eye and down my nose, it seems to be that this is where I mostly get dry skin and I’m not sure why!
The first thing I will always do is wash and moisturise my face – there is nothing worse than a dry face!
Then if I do have a spot or two I’ll apply some witch hazel. I swear by this stuff! It’s also important to apply a primer, especially if you want your make up to set, the one I’m currently using is the L’Oreal Paris Infallible Primer Matte Base.
IMG_3073 IMG_3074

It’s then time for foundation and the one I’m using at the moment is the Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place foundation, which is a matte finish with a very buildable coverage, and, honestly lasts all day.
I apply this with the Real Techniques Stippling Brush then blend it in with the Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge, hopefully soon though, I’ll be purchasing the Zoeva brushes as a little treat to myself.
I can’t quite decide if I like this foundation or not yet. I love the fact that it really does stay put the whole day but there are some things I’m not keen about it, but, I’ll save that for another day.

IMG_3083

Whilst my foundation is setting I go on to my eyes and eyebrows.
Very simple here, all I do is swipe on some mascara, which is generally just whichever one I have at the time, at the moment it’s the L’Oreal Volume Million Lashes Mascara, which I personally love for days when I’m going for a more natural look – most days.
I then do my eyebrows, which depends on how they’re looking at the time.
I to get my eyebrows waxed and dyed every 6-8 weeks, so if it’s straight after getting them done, all I need to do is go over them lightly with the Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Mascara to keep them in place.
However, if it’s like at the moment, where they badly need doing, I’ll fill them in with the Rimmel Eye Brow Pencil – which I hate doing! I just want low maintenance perfect brows all the time please – and then again go over them with the Brow Drama.

IMG_3096 IMG_3098

By this time my base has set and I can go onto my bronzer.
I have always used the same bronzer, the Bourjois Delice de Poudre Bronzing Powder, which smells of chocolate – mmm delicious!
I’ll use this with the Real Techniques Retractable Bronzing Brush, applying it in a figure of three, around my forehead, down my cheekbones and along my jaw, just to give a more sculpted and structured look to my face. I’ll then take along each side of my nose.
I never use to wear bronzer until about a year to two years ago and I honestly do not know how! I wouldn’t be able to wear a face of make up without it now.
IMG_3100 IMG_3116

After bronzer it’s time for blusher, which I apply just above the bronzer.
I am currently using the Sleek Creme to Powder Blush, applying it again, with a Real Techniques brush, the Blush Brush.
I really like this blusher as it can be very subtle if you apply it lightly, which you can see is what I done here as I was going for a very natural look this day, but, it is also buildable for a brighter colour. Also, if you accidentally apply a little too much, it’s very easy to blend out.

IMG_3123

To finish it off I then apply some Benefit High Beam just above the blusher, under my brow bone and along the bridge of my nose. I apply it in little dots as it is like a nail varnish brush, then just pat it in until it looks well blended.
I honestly only started wearing highlighter last year and I love it! It makes your face look so lifted and peachy.

IMG_3139

Lastly, I apply some lipgloss as I think wearing something on your lips really lifts your face and makes it seem brighter.
I definitely prefer lipgloss to lipstick as they’re such low maintenance, which if you couldn’t already tell is what I favor.
Normally in a pinky/redish tone.

IMG_3140

That’s it for my daily make-up!
Like I said, it’s not adventurous at all and I actually only wear it at the weekend as I don’t often wear make-up to work in the week.
Hopefully I’ll improve in my make-up skills, especially with eyeshadow, then one day I can do a tutorial!

What sort of make-up do you wear everyday?

Christmas Wish List

Well we are well and truly on our way to Christmas! Today I thought I would take a break from writing gift guides and write a wish list of things I actually want for Christmas, because no reason! Let me know if you get that reference…collage-2015-12-04

Minnie Mouse Personalised Mug £10.00
I’ve wanted this cute personalised Minnie Mouse mug since I featured it in my Disney Store Wish List post. I love anything Disney as you already know by now, as well as mugs, I honestly love mugs so much! I think this one is super cute as it’s personalised.

Paperchase Elephant Year Diary £10.00
Something you might not know is how much I love Elephants! I also really love year diaries and writing down everything I’m doing and when – so put those two together and you get this gorgeous creation! It’s an A6 size which is the perfect size to keep in your handbag.

Cinnamon Stick Yankee Candle £21.99
I’m really into candles at the moment, especially as the weather is now getting cooler, there is nothing cosier than getting in from the cold, lighting a candle and snuggling up watching TV!

Blogger Planner £34.99
As soon as I saw this I feel in love! I think this is a perfect present for any blogger and I really hope I get it and can use it in the new year. It has so many different sections in it and will be great for helping me get more organised with my blog. If I do get it, I will definitely be reviewing it on here!

Victoria Secret Fireside Pyjamas £37.60
Need I say more? As you already know as I’ve mentioned it many times, I love pyjamas so much, I just want to buy every pair of pyjamas I see. One day I will get a pair of Victoria Secret pyjamas!

12 Days of Christmas Lush Gift Set £49.95
I love having a relaxing bath, with a candle flickering and watching Youtube and adding a lush product to that bath would make it even better! I love the look of this gift set from Lush as it has all the Christmas products in it which all look so cute and festive.

Ugg Slippers £69.00
These look so cosy! I don’t really wear slippers that much, I much prefer wear thick fluffy socks, but I would definitely wear these! I know they do basically an exact match of these in Primark, so if I don’t get these slippers (which I doubt I will) I think I’ll pop to Primark and get some of those.

Zoeva Complete Set Vol. 1 £87.00
I love this set so much! I’m in dire need in some new makeup brushes. As much as I love my Real Techniques brushes which I’ve re-purchased many times now I feel like I need a change of brand and this set is calling my name right now.
This is another thing that if I don’t get for Christmas – which I won’t because I haven’t asked for them ha ha – that I’ll buy for myself.

Russel & Bromley Reserve boots £435.00
Oh my goodness! These boots are the most gorgeous boots that I have ever seen! I’ve been searching for a knee high pair of boots for ages now, literally since last year, I just could never find a pair that fit just right. However, as soon as I tried these boots on I instantly fell in love. They genuinely fit so perfectly on me and I really hope Santa brings me these for Christmas!

Aspinal of London Mini Marylebone Bag £595.00
Handbags are my weakness. My dream is to have a closet dedicated to designer handbags.
This mini Marylebone Aspinal of London handbag is so beautiful, it’s such good quality, a great size and the colour is amazing, it’s my favourite colour and I really feel like it could go well with a lot of things I wear.

Dalmatian Puppy
Last on the list is a dalmatian puppy.
I’ve been obsessed with dalmatians genuinely since I was about 3 years old and watched 101 Dalmatians. I had everything dalmatian themed and have always since then dreamed of owning my own dalmatian. I just think they’re such beautiful animals and have such a wonderful nature about them. Whenever I see one I just have to stroke it.
Of course I know I won’t be getting a dalmatian for Christmas, but a girl can dream, right?
I hope one day I do get my dream!

I hope you enjoyed this post. What are you wishing for this Christmas?

Christmas Gift Guide: For Her

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, everywhere you go…

I don’t know about you, but I love Christmas!
Right now as I’m typing this, I’m sat listening to Michael Buble’s Christmas Album – you know the one, don’t tell me you don’t – and yes, I am aware it’s only the middle of November… so?!
Anyway, I thought I’d put together a Christmas Gift Guide for the females in your life (really this is basically my Christmas wish list but hey ho!) as I done this last year and I loved it.
I’m also planning on posting Christmas Gift Guide’s for him, youngsters and possibly stocking fillers, so keep an eye out for those!
Perhaps subscribe so you never miss a post!

Brownie in a Mug Jar DIY:-
The first thing I chose was this cute idea of a Brownie in a Mug Jar DIY. We all know about the Brownie in a Mug obsession and when I found this I thought it was a brilliant idea. I always think DIY’s are such a cute idea as it’s a way of giving a present that’s relatively cheap but has a lot of thought and meaning in it. With this you just put the dry ingredients you need for a Brownie in a Mug, into a jar and make a cute card which explains how to make it and tie it to the mug with some Christmassy looking ribbon.
2016 Diary £10:-
I feel like a year diary is something that everyone should have in their lives especially if they’re looking to be a bit more organised with their life. This beautiful A5 diary from Paperchase has a week to a page view meaning there is a small amount of room to scribble down your day-to-day on goings. Paperchase also do lots of other 2016 diaries in various designs, sizes and prices, and you can also choose between having either a day to a page view or a week to a page view – whatever best suits the female in your life!
 Supersoft Check Topshop Scarf £22:-
I feel like a scarf is a present that you can get for nearly everyone and it will be appreciated. With Christmas comes Winter and colder weather so a scarf definitely won’t go amiss.
Asos Christmas Jumper £28:
What better to get someone for Christmas than a Christmas Jumper? I love that this jumper is quite a subtle Christmas jumper with just the fairisle pattern on it meaning you could get away with wearing it on a normal day, not just Christmas! However, if you really want to go all out and buy someone a Christmas jumper with flashing lights and jiggling bells, I’d recommend going to Primark as they always do the best Christmas jumpers!
Christmas PJs Boux Avenue £28:-

I am absolutely obsessed with pyjama’s, no really I am, I have three big drawers full, yes three! you did read that right. I just cannot get enough of pyjama’s, they’re something you wear everyday and it’s definitely the best thing getting into your pyjama’s after a long day, especially in the Christmas/Winter season. Put Christmas and pyjama’s together and voila you have a perfect combination which makes for a great Christmas present for any female in your life. My auntie buys me pj’s every Christmas and honestly, it’s one of my favourite things!
Pump Up The Party Make Up Set £29.50:-

I feel like this would make a great gift for various females. Whether it’s for your girlfriend who is obsessed with make-up, your daughter who is just dipping her toe into the world of make-up or your best friend who is always on the move! The gift set with quite a few samples of various Benefit products, which means for the one who’s just getting into make-up can try out different products to see what they may like or not like to wear all the time, it also means they can have quite a few products to begin with. It’s also great as it means that you have all your essentials in one place, which makes it easy to chuck in your bag and, knowing you have all the make-up you need on you.
Lush Gift Set £39.95:-
Who doesn’t love a bit of Lush? I think almost every girl loves to pamper themselves to an extent and Lush products are great for helping you do just that. The gift sets are especially great as they come with a variety of bath bombs and soaps meaning the girl in your life can have many luxurious baths!
Onesie Boux Avenue £40:
There’s not much I can say about this onesie that will be different to what I said about pj’s, I just love onesies as well and think they’re perfect for snuggling up in. Especially this one which looks so soft and fluffy!
VS Dressing Gown £40.23:
So you know how I said that I’m obsessed with pjs (yes three drawers full) well I think it’s fair to say I’m also a little bit obsessed with dressing gowns as I own… prepare yourselves… TEN dressing gowns… perhaps I’m more than just a little obsessed. Don’t even get me started on how much I love Victoria’s Secret. Unfortunately I only have 1 thing from there but I sit and stare at the clothes on the website all the time! I will be buying more stuff from there in time believe me! Anyway, enough about how much I love this and that, I think a dressing gown is also a great present for any female as they are just so nice to again, cosy up in, either in the morning doing your hair and make-up or in the evening when you’re sitting watching TV.
YSL Black opium Gift Set £44.50:
I personally think that a perfume gift set is a great Christmas present (not necessarily this specific perfume, but whichever perfume the lady you’re buying for likes) as it doesn’t just come with a bottle of perfume, but also either a body lotion or body wash, or sometimes both. This means leaves you smelling extra lovely all day! Just make sure you sneakily find out what perfume or scent the female you’re buying for likes!
Tiffany Bracelet £120:-
Getting onto the pricier presents with this lovely Tiffany Bracelet. With this idea I mean any jewellery is a good present, whether it’s a necklace, bracelet or ring. A piece of jewellery can really mean a lot, and I feel like it does especially to a female. The lovely thing about Tiffany jewellery is that first of all, that most of their pieces can be personalised and the fact it is so timeless, making for a lovely present that will last a life time.
Thomas Sabo Watch £215
:
Again, I feel like a watch is a good present for a female of any age and depending where you get the watch from, is likely to be a piece that lasts a life time. I love the simplicity of this watch from Thomas Sabo watch with the silver strap and black face.
Mulberry Tree Leather Zip Around Purse £275:-

Mulberry is a brand that I absolutely love. I think their pieces are timeless, brilliant quality and I like the fact there are not many copies on the market. With this idea, I don’t think you specifically should get a Mulberry purse for the female in your life, but any nice, good quality purse would be a good Christmas present. A purse is something we use every day so buying one that is really good quality means it’s going to last a good amount of time, and is quite a thoughtful gift too.
Mulberry Bayswater Handbag £1,500
:
Once again, I love Mulberry as a brand and I am lusting after this handbag since getting my own Mulberry handbag for my 18th birthday this year. Again, I mean this as a general present, in that any nice quality, good looking handbag would be a great Christmas present for the lady in your life.
Experience Day
:
The last thing in my ‘Christmas Gift Guide: For Her’ would be an experience day. Whether that’s to the spa, for a hot balloon ride, afternoon tea, etc. the list goes on. There are so many great experience days out there that you can purchase, and I think they’re a great idea as they allow the lady in your life to do something that she perhaps, wouldn’t do normally.

That’s it for my Christmas Gift Guide: For Her.
Be sure to follow/subscribe to me to find out when I post my next Christmas Gift Guides.
